Another picnic and Spring is finally here!!
I feel so sorry for all you unfortunate Northern Hemisphere-dwellers... summer is over, the days are getting shorter and the produce is getting less exciting. For me, the very opposite is true! Although we are already a month into Spring, today was the first truly warm day and my goodness was it beautiful! It just so happened that we had a raw picnic today and I honestly don't think the weather could have been more perfect - it was just phenomenal.
You may or may not remember, a few months back I got a bike with trailer and I have been getting more and more into riding - every Saturday I do a 14km round-trip down to the Organic Growers Market and back, plus I ride just for fun sometimes as well as other general commuting. Anyway, last week I signed up to do The Great Perth Bike Ride, which is a fund-raising ride with a 53km course that you can do once or twice. I'm going to stick with just one lap for my firs time, but I'm super excited! You can check out my web-page here (and you can make a donation there. Go on, please make a donation - it's a great cause!! Well, 3 great causes actually!)
Anyway this does have some relevance to my earlier discussion of today's stunning weather - I reached my maximum ever distance ridden in one day, with approximately 27km (over half the 53km route!) I rode to and from the market this morning, then to and from the picnic. And to be honest, I feel absolutely fine - I could easily have kept going. I don't want to get confident, but I think it will be a breeze! And lots of fun!

Well, I'm sure you've all been reading through this thinking "oh yes, hmm, biuke ride, well that's interesting... WHERE'S THE FOOD?" So without further ado, here is today's picnic food. I'm afraid there aren't that many photos and they aren't that great quality... but it was such a beautiful day, such scrumptious food and such wonderful people, that I simply couldn't spend too much time behind the camera.

This was my contribution to the day, a Mulberry Pie (fresh mulberries picked this morning, YUM!) and it was really delicious. IT was also really attractive... before I rode 7km with it in my backpack. But it's not how it looks, it's how it tastes, right!! :-)

Now to move away from picnic food, here is a little mini-pizza I made a few weeks ago (Though I make pretty much identical ones every Friday). Super yum! I AM going to create a little recipe book at some point and both the Mulberry Pie and Pizza recipes will be in there. Oh and I AM going to start posting more frequently, I promise (cross my heart!) Have a great day everyone!
