Yummy food using my new toy!
Because I now live 4 hours by plane away from my entire family except my parents, rather than getting lots of birthday presents I have received lots of money in the post, and last week I went and spent some of it to buy a veggie spiraliser, which you can see by clicking:
here
It is SOOO cool! Now, it took a bit of getting used to and my first attempt at raw pasta was using butternut pumkpin, which wasn't a good start because it is one of the harder veggies to spiralise but zucchini becomes beautiful angel hair pasta in seconds!

Here is Butternut Noodles with Golden Curry Sauce from Shazzie's 'Detox Your World' and it was DELICIOUS! Really, the sauce was sooooo good, I ate piles of it. If you have this book, make this recipe right now! EVen if you don't have a spiraliser to make the pasta, make the sauce and eat it rolled up in a big lettuce or cabbage leaf, or maybe on it's own like soup, or you could add some orange juice and make it thinner to use as a salad dressing... whatever you can think of to eat it!

This is an Alfredo-style sauce I made up for lunch the other day with zucchini noodles - it had avocado, basil, lemon juice, tomatoes and some other things I can't remember. It didn't turn out that well but combined with the noodles it was great!

Lastly is dinner from tonight, which is zucchini and carrot noodles with Walnut Pesto (using a couple of pecans cos I ran out of walnuts!) from a book called 'Hooked on Raw' by Rhio, which I have on loan from the library (I have to return it on monday but I don't want to :-(
I played around with the pesto a fair bit and it was nice but not great - the noodles were awesome, of course!

Goodnight!

Wow, I just checked out your blog for the first time and it ROCKS! How have I missed it up till now? You should totally 'take the plunge' with your kids - I met two raw kids at a picnic today (aged 8 and 2.5) and they were so beautiful and healthy and lovely!
And thanks for saying I'm smart - with the advent of the internet, there is just so much incredible info available, so whatever you want to know it's right at your fingertips!

Hi, your food looks fantastic and your blog has inspired my fiance and I to go raw.

We've been vegetarian for years (me, 16yrs, he 7yrs) and I've been off most dairy for the best part of this year. We picked up RAWvolution by Matt Amsden on Friday and are getting into trying some of the basic stuff not requiring a dehydrator. The spiraliser looks awesome! I'm very keen to try some zucchini pasta so I might just get one of those.

Happy Birthday too for last week!

Happy belated birthday!

Those "pastas" look wonderful. Maybe I will splurge and get a spiralizer at some point.

You seem to really dig the Shazzie's book, I'll have to google it.

Hi Freedom!
Inspired by your recent posts, I just ordered Shazzie's Detox Delights & Detox Your World. Her books aren't as widely available in the states, so I ordered from a raw food site. I'm going to try to do another raw stint for a while -- I've gotten way off track with too much junky food. I miss the way I felt when I was eating a more raw diet. Hope you're doing well!

Kate that is sooo cool! I actually inspired someone to go raw! At the moment I can't access your blog for some reason but as soon as I can I will be over there! Oh yes definately get a spiraliser - I think it is the best value piece of kitchen equipment I own (well, except the food processor I got at a garage sale for $5! :-)

Thanks for the bday wishes Jody, the spiraliser and Shazzie's books are all great!
Glad you enjoyed your trip, too, sounds awesome!

Jen, Shazzie's books are tough to get here too, since she's in the UK but I'm sooo glad you got them. I'll give you a few suggestions for good recipes to try when I've got more free time. Have a great day!

The spiraliser looks so awesome! I love how you can make noodles from carrots, zucchini, or anything -- and they look so appetizing. I really admire your food choices.
Happy Birthday!! :o)

I just wanted to stop by and tell you that your blog inspired me to buy my first raw cookbook. I hope most of it doesn't revolve around a dehydrator.

I do wanna look into this detox your world cookbook you speak of... That may just be my next cookbook purchase!

You just might make your way through all the recipes I think! :)

Can anyone recommend the top performing Remote Management software for a small IT service company like mine? Does anyone use Kaseya.com or GFI.com? How do they compare to these guys I found recently: N-able N-central configuration management
? What is your best take in cost vs performance among those three? I need a good advice please... Thanks in advance!
